It is hard to beat the snazzy looks of a Carolina Chickadee (Poecile carolinensis) with its neat black and white plumage.
It even looks good from the rear! Male and female chickadees look the same to us humans. Birds, however, can see into the ultraviolet range of the spectrum, and here is some evidence in the literature that chickadees can see a difference between the sexes.
