Common Grays

Joyce spotted this beautiful pair of moths that had settled on one of our garage doors. I am no moth taxonomist, but I think they are Common Gray Moths (Anavitrinella pampinaria).

The feathery antennae show that the bottom moth is the male. According to internet sources there is sexual dimorphism in this species, but it usually said not to be very striking. In this case, however, there does seem to be quite a bit of difference between the female (upper) and the male (lower).
