Tree Frog Buffet

We sometimes have tree frogs visiting our windows to feast on the insects attracted there by the house lights. Before the last cold spell, this Green Tree Frog (Hyla cinerea) paid us a visit.

From outside one of the windows, one can see the white stripe that goes down each side.

From inside through the glass, the frog appears to be looking in at us. Each toe is capped with a round sucker that enables the frog to cling to smooth surfaces.

In late spring, Green Tree Frogs produce quite a chorus. Here is a recording that I made, with the help of my son-in-law Mike and my granddaughter Katie. There are several species of frogs calling in this recording, but the Green Tree Frogs, with their honking call, are the most prominent.
